Life at Our Cathedral City Home:
A Look at Daily Activities
Six residents. One caregiver for every three of them. A day built around what your loved one actually enjoys, not an activity board on a wall.

At our Cathedral City home, activities are never a group program run for an entire building. With only six residents and a 1:3 caregiver ratio, our team gets to know each person’s real interests, so the day includes what they actually enjoy, not a generic activity board. This is part of what it means for a resident to be known, not just cared for, at Angel’s Haven Care.
Below is a look at the kinds of activities residents enjoy at our Cathedral City home, organized by type. Because every resident’s week looks a little different, this is not a fixed schedule. Once your loved one moves in, our caregivers build an activity rhythm around their preferences, and you can always ask what a typical week currently looks like during your tour or care assessment.
Bingo night is one of the most requested activities in our Cathedral City home. Caregivers call numbers, celebrate wins together, and keep the pace relaxed so residents with vision or hearing changes can still take part fully. It is simple, social, and something residents look forward to.
Rummy, dominoes, and simple trivia rounds give residents a lower-key alternative to bingo, with games sized to whoever wants to play that day. Caregivers adjust the pace and difficulty to match each resident’s ability, so the goal stays connection and fun rather than competition.
Caregivers learn each resident’s favorite songs, eras, and artists, then build music time around them. For someone who once played an instrument or sang in a choir, a familiar melody can bring back memories long before words do.
Residents are invited to share stories from their lives, often prompted by an old photo or a familiar song. These moments give caregivers a deeper picture of who a resident was before their care needs became the focus, and give the resident a chance to be heard.
Our full kitchen makes baking and simple cooking projects a natural, hands-on activity. Residents help measure, stir, and smell what is cooking, which is often more engaging for someone with dementia than a passive craft.
Light arts and crafts and seasonal decorating fill our courtyard-facing living space throughout the year.
Chair exercises and gentle stretching are part of the regular rhythm, giving residents a way to stay mobile and comfortable at whatever pace works for them that day. Caregivers adjust intensity based on how a resident is feeling, never pushing past what feels good.
With over 350 sunny days a year, our private courtyard gets regular use for morning walks and quiet outdoor time, moved to cooler parts of the day during peak summer heat.
Cathedral City averages over 350 days of sunshine a year, and our private courtyard gets regular use for morning activities and quiet outdoor time. During peak summer months, our caregivers move outdoor activity to cooler parts of the day to keep residents comfortable and safe.
For residents with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia, activities are paced through the day rather than crowded together, with calmer routines in the late afternoon to help manage sundowning. Read more about our approach to memory care and dementia care at Angel’s Haven.
Residents with Parkinson’s disease often do best with consistent, gentle movement and caregivers who understand the day-to-day fluctuations of the condition. Movement time is shaped around fall prevention and balance, always working alongside your loved one’s physician and physical therapist. Learn more about our approach to Parkinson’s care.
Activities and social engagement are already part of the all-inclusive monthly rate at our Cathedral City home. There is no separate activity fee and no add-on charge for participation.

Social & Celebration
Birthdays & Holidays
Birthdays and holidays give the home a reason to celebrate together, often built around a favorite meal or dessert rather than a one-size-fits-all party.
Family Visit Days
Because we do not have set visiting hours, families are always welcome to join an activity, a meal, or simply spend time together whenever they are here.
