You can search by facility name, city, or license number. The results show the facility's current license status, licensed capacity, and inspection history, information that comes directly from the state, not from the facility itself.
What to Look For in the Results
Once you pull up a facility, check that the license status shows as active, not expired, suspended, or revoked. Compare the licensed capacity to what you were told on a tour or over the phone. A facility claiming to be a small, six-resident home should show a license that actually says six.
The inspection history is worth reading too. Citations aren't automatically disqualifying, since even well-run homes occasionally get minor ones, but a pattern of repeated or serious citations is worth asking about directly.
